When we think about what makes our babies grow, our minds often go straight to the food they are eating and the milk they are drinking. Whilst both these things are important, many studies have proved that a good night’s sleep is essential too. Sleep is important to us all, especially our little babies, who spend the majority of the first 2 years of their lives asleep. Babies spend up to 17 hours a day sleeping. Even by the time they are 1 year old, babies still spend more than half their time asleep. Sleep time for babies is essential to their growth and development.

So what can we do to ensure our babies sleep well and how can bamboo help?

As almost all parents will have experienced, it’s not always easy to get our babies to sleep and then to stay asleep. The environment in which our babies sleep plays a key part in facilitating them to calmly drift off to sleep, as well as helping them to stay asleep. In order for sleep to occur our bodies need to reduce their core temperature.

Using chemical-free, natural fabrics, which allow our skin to breathe, regulate body temperature and promote clean indoor air, all help our bodies to calmly drift off to sleep and stay well rested. If our bodies are overheating in synthetic materials, which cause us to sweat, or there are hidden chemicals irritating delicate skin causing rashes to develop, we are bound to feel uncomfortable and have a restless night. The same is true for our babies. Baby’s skin is even more receptive to these hidden chemicals and they are not able to regulate their body temperature as we can, so using breathable fabrics is especially important for them.

At The Bamboo Baby Company we want to ensure that all your baby’s sleeping and growing is done in the best possible environment to maximise their (and your) sleep opportunity. By creating eco-friendly, organic bamboo baby products, we provide a stylish, sustainable and naturally protective choice for your baby, which promotes healthy sleep.

All the Benefits of Using Bamboo…

Breathable Fabric

Bamboo fabrics are made from natural organic bamboo viscose, making them breathable and safe for your baby. Many wholly synthetic fabrics, such as polyester and acrylic, are not breathable. Materials made from bamboo offer a natural, organic and safe alternative for your baby.

So Incredibly Soft

Fabrics made from bamboo fibres are incredibly soft and have a luxurious silk-like feel to them, just perfect for your baby's delicate skin. Bamboo fibres are much finer than ordinary cotton and are therefore able to produce much softer fabrics.

Temperature Control

Bamboo helps control your baby’s temperature, keeping them cool when it's hot and warm when it's cold. Our range of organic bamboo blankets is perfect for both warmer and cooler climates, so they can be used all year round.

Clean Indoor Air

As bamboo requires no pesticides or fertilisers to grow, The Bamboo Baby Company can provide organic products grown naturally. Being organic, our products help to reduce the release of harmful chemicals into the air, thus keeping the air in your baby's nursery as fresh as possible so you and your baby can breathe easily.

Naturally anti-bacterial and anti-fungal

Bamboo contains bamboo kun, a natural property which kills up to 70% of any bacteria attempting to incubate on the bamboo. This means the organic bamboo we use is already naturally anti-bacterial and anti-fungal, helping to keep your little one clean and fresh. Our organic bamboo products are naturally anti-bacterial and anti-fungal...

Moisture Control

Bamboo fabrics are 40% more absorbent than even the finest organic cotton. Fabrics made from organic bamboo gently pull excess moisture away from the skin, without drying the skin. This helps control any bacteria or the development of rashes, which might otherwise thrive on damp or wet skin. Our range of organic bamboo blankets and towels will help keep your baby's skin naturally soft and rash-free.

Hypoallergenic

Bamboo does not promote dust or harbour dust mites. Fabrics made from bamboo have a lower chance of causing allergic reactions, so they are suitable for babies from birth. Those who are prone to allergies often find they are not allergic to bamboo fabrics.

Organic - No Fertilisers or Pesticides

Bamboo thrives with just a small amount of water it obtains from natural rainfall. It doesn’t need any nasty chemicals to grow to its full potential, making it a great organic choice for your family.

Truly Sustainable Alternative

Bamboo is a grass and so harvesting doesn’t kill the plant, but instead promotes re-growth. Unlike hardwood trees, bamboo re-growth occurs from the same shoot; this means no re-planting is required and deforestation is avoided. It grows very quickly, much faster than hardwood trees and can be harvested within 1 – 5 years, depending on the species.

100% Biodegradable

Bamboo is 100% recyclable with virtually every piece of the plant having a functional use, from food supplies to scaffolding; this makes it a very efficient and economical material and great for the environment.

Oxygen Release

Bamboo releases 35% more oxygen into the air than the equivalent hardwood trees. It also absorbs large volumes of carbon dioxide. This makes growth of bamboo great for the environment and helps put more oxygen back into the air we breathe.
